Agrobank Launched The First Takaful Protection In Malaysia For People With Disabilties
KUALA LUMPUR – Agrobank today launched, Agro Nurani, Takaful protection for person with disabilities (PWD). The product was officially launched by YB Dato’ Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Ministry of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industries (MoA) and YB Dato’ Sri Rohani Abdul Karim, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development (KPWKM) at Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), Kuala Lumpur in conjunction with Karnival Kewangan 2017 organized by Bank Negara Malaysia.
Agrobank becomes the first Bank in Malaysia to introduce Takaful protection for PWD’s. The Takaful is offered for PWD age between 16 to 65 years old and provides range of benefits including personal accident, accidental death, natural death, medical treatment due to accident as well as hospital allowance due to accident.
According to Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal, Chairman of Agrobank Board of Director, Agro Nurani is Agrobank’s latest initiative to serve the PWD as it align with the Bank’smandate which was to serving the unserved and underserved.
“It is very challenging for PWD’s to get Takaful/ Insurance coverage as they are considered as high-risk groups. Following the concern, Agrobank the initiatives to introduced Agro Nurani with focus to benefit the PWD. Agrobank’s positive that this scheme will receive a good response. Agrobank is targetting 15,000 customers to subscribe this products with the total premium value worth RM1.2 million for this year,”said Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi.
YB Dato’ Sri Rohani Abdul Karim, in her speech said that Agrobank initiative to introduce takaful protection scheme for the Disabled is a positive milestone which was welcomed by her ministry.
The introduction of Agro Nurani is in line with the objectives/goals of 2016-2022 Action Plan for the Disabled, which is structured in the Core Strategic 1, (GOL 3 INCEHON) focus on improving accessibility for people with disabilities. This includes improving access to banking services and insurance. This plan is very important for us as inclusivity OKU is our priority. Support from various corporations and banking institutions is important to achieve the target as set in this action plan. Therefore, on behalf of the ministry, I would like to congratulate Agrobank for this fine effort,” said Dato’ Sri Rohani.
Dato’ Sri Ahmad Shaberry Cheek, Minister of Agriculture and Agro-based Industry concurred with Dato’ Sri Rohani, He believes the launch of Agro Nurani is a good move to providing good takaful protection for people with disabilities.

ForAgro Nurani, Agrobank offers three (3) different types of plan:
