Agrobank Receives Recognition At The Global Good Governance Awards 2017



DUBAI, UAE – Agrobank receives another recognition from the Global Good Governance Awards (3G Awards) for the category 3G Financial Services Awards. The 3G Financial Services Award is awarded to Agrobank in recognition of the Bank’s strong contribution in financial inclusion and initiatives undertaken to broaden access to finance. The Awards was received by Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal, Chairman of Agrobank together with Mr Jasni Mohamed Yusof, Chief Credit Officer of Agrobank on behalf of the Bank. The event was held in Dubai, UAE and attended by more than 400 guests from all over the world.

The Global Good Governance Awards are presented to governments, corporate and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) for excellence in transparency, good governance and social responsibility.

Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi Wan Othman, President/CEO of Agrobank said, Agrobank is honoured to be acknowledged again by the 3G Awards. “Agrobank always believe that financial inclusion is a powerful agent for strong and inclusive economic growth; empowering individuals and community to better their lives.”

According to Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi, as part of the incentives to increase food production, Agrobank offers innovative financing products with low profit rates, such as the ‘Food Production Credit Scheme’, ‘Fund For Food (3F) with 3.75% rate – the lowest in the country. In addition, we also have special financing Hartani-i which is financing for the purchases of agricultural land and this year Agrobank introduced the first takaful protection for person with disabilities (PWD) in Malaysia, called Agro Nurani.

“Agriculture is always associated as high risk business entity and not in the radar for most commercial institutions. Agrobank is committed to our mandated roles which are to grow the agriculture sector to have better access of financing in agri-business; from small on micro scale to SME up to import and export business. We will continue to innovate our products, services and programmes to meet specific needs of business in agriculture as part of our developmental roles and at the same time continue our commercial roles to remain as a sustainable entity,” said Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi further.

Last year, Agrobank recorded remarkable growth of 16.7% with total financing value reaching up to RM8.685 billion, the best achievement for Agrobank in the last five years.

At the same event, Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi, Chairman of Agrobank, also received an award from 3G Global Good Governance Awards 2017.

Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi received the 3G Lifetime Achievement Awards as recognition for his outstanding contribution in public sector for more than 37 years.

According to the Awards Committee, they were impressed with the role Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi has played in transforming the public sector particularly in supporting good practices. As the former Director General of Public Service Department (retired in December 2016), he is a strong advocator of transforming organisation to high performance. He has been one of the key drivers of the public sector transformation, have written and lectured extensively on the subject.
