Agrobank and UPM collaborate on a new certification programme



KUALA LUMPUR – Agrobank today has accepted the proposal by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) on a training cum certification programme called Agrobank-UPM Agriculture Certification Programme (AU-ACP). The programme will focus on enhancing new employees of Agrobank to understand various key of agriculture principles and get latest updates in agriculture business activities and initiatives.

The six (6) months programme aims to increase better understanding for Agrobank staff when evaluating agri-business proposal. The module is designed by UPM and shall comprise agriculture activities in food and commodity crop, aquaculture, livestock, agriculture technology and agro-based industries. Apart from that, the module emphasis is on enhancing applications in commercial crop management to ensure participants gain necessary key knowledge and skills in agri-business activities.

The proposal was accepted by Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi Wan Othman, President/Chief Executive Officer of Agrobank and Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris, Vice Chancellor of UPM witnessed by YB Dato’ Seri Idris Jusoh, Minister of Higher Education. The ceremony was held in conjunction with Agriculture Faculty of UPM’s Open Day.
Dato’ Wan Mohd Fadzmi Wan Othman, President/Chief Executive Officer of Agrobank said Agrobank remains fully committed to ensure that its officers remain well equipped with relevant skills and knowledge required to access agriculture projects effectively.

“After we signed our first MOU in 2014, Agrobank and UPM have worked on a couple of initiatives. This latest certification programme is another collaboration that focuses on leveraging strengths of each organisation to achieve our common goals”, he added.
