Agrobank Organises Knowledge Sharing Programme On Prospect And Opportunities In Agricultural Sector



IPOH, PERAK – Agrobank today continues its business talk known as “Agenda Agro: Prospects and Opportunities in Agricultural Sector” in Ipoh, Perak. The event was attended by 120 Agrobank’s clients based in Perak.

Perak was the fifth location chosen for Agenda Agro after Perlis, Pahang, Sarawak and Johor. The programme which was introduced last year continues its objective to give exposure for Agrobank’s clients through knowledge sharing session on the prospects and opportunities in agricultural sector especially in constructing a strategic planning in evolving their business empire. This programme also serves as an added value for the agriculture community to get latest updates on government policies in helping them to improve their level of income as well as the standard of their socio-economy.

According to Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal, Chairman of Agrobank’s Board of Directors, the knowledge sharing programme would help the clients in seeing agriculture in larger perspective especially in Perak which has great potential particularly in industrial crops segments such as palm oil and rubber.

“Agricultural sector has huge potential and prospect. There is a lot of people showing their interests in implementing agriculture based business and this can be seen on the Bank’s impressive financing performance. On the third quarter of year 2016, Agrobank has recorded the highest financial value of RM8.44 billion which recorded up to 13.40% financial growth compared to 3.3% growth recorded on the same period last year. From that total financing value, 59.9% or RM5.1 billion was from primer sector. While, RM3.1billion of this primer sector is financing for agrofood segment,” said Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi

Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi added he believes that the Bank successful performance was supported by Perak excellent performance.

“Perak is one of the states that has great potential and opportunity in agricultural sector. The potential can be seen on its outstanding performance whereas as at September 2016, the state has contributed 11% or RM938.7 million from RM8.44 billion of Agrobank total financing value. On that note, Perak has recorded 24.4% of financing growth which exceeded the growth recorded last year for the same period which was RM756.32 million.

The industrial crop was recorded as the highest financing which is 48% or RM449.75 million from total financing value in Perak. For information, oil palm contributes the highest income with a value of RM185.17 million,” he added.

At the event, Agrobank also presents certificates of appreciation to three (3) AGROAgents that recorded the best performance in Perak. The top 3 are selected based on the highest volume of transaction done for the first half of the year 2016. The three agents are:
