Agrobank Signs A Corruption-free Pledge – The First Bank To Support This Initiative

MELAKA – Agrobank continues its strong commitment towards a culture of integrity by signing a corruption-free pledge today. The ceremony was officiated by Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi Zainal, Chairman of Agrobank and witnessed by Dato’ Shamshun Baharin Mohd Jamil, Deputy Chief Commissioner (Prevention) Malaysia Anti-Corruption Commission MACC). The ceremony was in held in conjunction with Agrobank Managers Convention 2017 held in Malacca.

After the signing, 257 Agrobank officers, including CEO, management team, Regional Directors, Head of Departments and branch managers from all over Malaysia recited the Corruption Free pledge led by Encik Mad Yusof Yazid, Chief Services Officer of Agrobank. Also present at the ceremony were senior management team of Agrobank and also MACC officials.

According to Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi, the signing of this pledge is a follow through initiative after the previous signing of the Corporate Integrity Pledge (CIP) held on 6th September 2014. With this signing, Agrobank becomes this first bank in Malaysia to sign a Corruption-Free Pledge, a new initiative by MACC.

According to Tan Sri Mohamad Zabidi, the pledge demonstrates Agrobank’s strong commitment to promote integrity and good governance values towards realising Agrobank’s mission and vision. This is part of Agrobank’s continuous effort to inculcate good values in order to make Agrobank a high performance organisation; efficient, friendly, responsible and adopt high standard of governance, trust and integrity.

“I hope that our employees will continue to put integrity enhancement agenda as a priority in carrying out their work. Our officers must also be alert to their warnings signs and other symptoms related to corruption so that necessary action can be taken”, he added.

Dato’ Shamsun Baharin commended Agrobank’s commitment to be a corruption free organisation. In his speech he congratulated Agrobank for being the first bank in Malaysia to sign the Corruption-Free Pledge. He also added that Agrobank’s commitment in implementing ‘Corruption-Free Pledge’ is the efforts and the fight against corruption is not the exclusive responsibility of the MACC alone, but rather a mandate and tasks to be shared by the whole society.
