CORPORATE CSR: COMPANIES SPONSOR TAKAFUL PROTECTION FOR PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES (PWD)
SERDANG – 488 People with Disabilities (PWD) around the vicinity of Klang Valley and Malacca today received sponsorship of Agro Nurani takaful personal protection from companies amounting RM5.5 million. The sponsorship was given to the representatives of PWD by YB Dato’ Sri Haji Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry accompanied Puan Masaat Awadz, Covering President / Chief Executive Officer (P/CEO) of Agrobank and Encik Mad Yusof Yazid, Chief Services Officer Agrobank.
The caring sponsors are; Globe Cycle Group, Creative World Industries Sdn Bhd, The Hyat Collection Sdn Bhd, Havilah Resources, Siti Nor & Partners, Restoran Asam Pedas Jr, The Law Chambers of Hedzril, Akademi Kecantikan Artistik Diyana and Shahmawar Sdn Bhd. 488 PWD from Pertubuhan Orang Cacat Penglihatan Malaysia and Persatuan Usahawan OKU Negeri Melaka benefitted from this initiative with total protection amounting RM 6.1 million.
Agro Nurani is the first takaful protection introduced specifically for the PWD community in Malaysia. The product was launched in Kuala Lumpur during Karnival Kewangan on 14 January 2017 by YB Dato’ Sri Rohani Abdul Karim, Minister of Women, Family and Community Development and YB Dato’ Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Minister of Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry.
Agro Nurani is a takaful protection scheme offered for PWD aged between 16 to 65 years old and provides range of benefits including personal accident, accidental death, natural death, and medical treatment due to accident and hospital allowance for injuries caused by accident.
According to Puan Masaat Awadz, Covering P/CEO, as a Bank that is committed in helping the unserved and underserved community, Agrobank is grateful for the support received from the corporate companies to help the PWD.
“We commend the efforts and initiatives undertaken by the corporate companies to support the PWD community and we hope this programme can be expanded nationwide so that more disabled people in the country can be assisted. Such initiatives by these caring corporates are important so that we could each do our part in forming a caring society.” said Puan Masaat Awadz.
In addition to the sponsorship, Pertubuhan Orang Cacat Penglihatan Malaysia also subsribed to the protection plan RM1,134,000 for 90 members.
At the same ceremony, Puan Nor Asiah Ahmad receives compensation amounting RM53,000.00 for her son who died in a car accident in July 2017. Her son, Allahyarham Muhamad Amin bought takaful protection per annum last year during MAHA 2016.
