Strategic Alliance between Agrobank & RECODA: Strategic partner of agriculture development under SCORE
KUCHING, SARAWAK – The Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) and Agrobank signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) during this year’s Agrofest 2018 in order to co-operate, to provide easier financing for investors and farmers in the Sarawak Corridor of Renewable Energy (SCORE) area.
The signing of the MoU at the Penview Convention Center will enable potential investors and agro entrepreneurs in the three (3) development agencies established under RECODA, namely Upper Rajang Development Agency (URDA), Highland Development Agency (HDA) and the Northern Region Development Agency (NRDA), special financing programmes, while enabling the facilitation of the development of local agropreneurs to participate in commercial agriculture as well as encourage entrepreneurs to take part in the development of the agriculture supply chain in these areas.
The MoU was signed by YBhg. Datu Haji Ismawi Bin Haji Ismuni, Chief Executive Officer, RECODA and Encik Mohamad Taufik Mahamad Zakaria, Chief Strategic Officer of AGROBANK.
The event was witnessed by YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Chief Minister of Sarawak cum Minister for Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development and the Chairman of HDA.
YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas commended the collaboration between Agrobank and RECODA. “Collaboration such as this (RECODA and Agrobank) is important to support the state government’s agenda to transform the rural development through dynamic and commercial agricultural activities.
“I am confident that the proposed financing programme by Agrobank will be beneficial in developing entrepreneurs among local people and agricultural communities in Sarawak. This efforts is in line with the state development plan which to make Sarawak a high-income and advanced state by 2030,” added YB Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
